Oak Avenue, West Christchurch
This project was for the erection of a block of 6 flats replacing an existing chalet bungalow. Planning permission was granted on first attempt following pre-application discussions with the Council. The area is characterised by good sized, well proportioned detached buildings of a generally traditional design and form. The proposal was designed to ensure that the building settled comfortably into its context.
The site constraints were considerable with a number of mature oak trees around the plot. Working with these constraints successfully ensured a speedy outcome and grant of planning permission. Often with more traditional buildings, the richness of the design can be better expressed through hand drawn images that show the proposal in its context better than computer generated images.
